Day late and a dollar short
I don’t think I am actually a dollar short but that is how the saying goes. Yesterday was hectic at my side-gig (aka my day job) and the best kind of company afterwork. So I am a day late at least.
The current comic for Lu & Dag starts a quest for them, the search for the Equinox Crown. I want to add more story and mythology into the comic so having a task and some sequential story telling should help. The current plan is to have it be a short run, just enough to get past this spring equinox, so probably 4 weeks worth of the quest but then to have another adventure shortly thereafter. I do like the idea of Lu & Dag being able to be read either in order or as a one off from most points but some compromises must be made if I want to tell bigger and more in depth stories.
In other news I am starting to slowly, like ever so slowly pull out of the winter funk. Eating slightly better, trying to be more active every day. Its a slog, and somedays I just want to sleep until warmer weather. I have started hitting my sketchbook more, digging more and more into my reference/art books and experimenting with some of the tools I have for physical media. Digital is still a smoother road but there is something very special to me about having a hands on piece that only exists outside of the digital landscape. I have upped my reading hobby, it was once the primary focus of my life as a kid but as I got older and more and more distracted I have let it slip. I am getting back to it, novels, comic books, self help and instruction books, mythology. Reading has always been one of my favorite things and getting back to it feels so nice. Lastly for updates I have been looking at solo roleplaying games alot lately, they at one point seemed so strange to me that I shunned the concept. Removing the other players from the game felt like you were removing a huge part of what made them so amazing. But, what I am starting to realize and probably because I am re-igniting the reading bug; solo roleplaying games are the equivalent of a much more involved pick-a-path-to-adventure or choose your own adventure books that consumed me as a kid. I think that the solo-rpgs may be a fun story generator at some point but we shall see.
Thanks for reading, I will be on time next week. Enjoy the comics and if you are not already subscribed, get on that. Here is a sketch from this weeks playtime. :)
